Get more out of it

One bottle,
a lot more than one drink.

You already bought the bottle. These are four more things it can do, all of them with what is probably already in your kitchen. No infusions, no clarified anything, nothing that needs a week of prep.

The Gathering
Recipe 04 / 15 min / Serves 12

The Gathering

Batch it before anyone arrives. Then actually talk to your guests.

You need

  • 1 bottle Big Ass® Bourbon
  • 12 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 9 oz demerara syrup
  • 16 oz strong black tea, cooled
  • Lemon wheels and grated nutmeg

Do this

  1. Combine everything but the garnish in a punch bowl.
  2. Add one large block of ice, not cubes. It melts slower.
  3. Float lemon wheels across the top.
  4. Grate nutmeg over each cup as you pour.
Three things that matter

Three things that waste
a good bottle.

Your ice is too small

Small cubes melt fast and water down the drink before you are halfway through. One big cube, every time.

You are not chilling it enough

Stir a spirit-only drink for a full thirty seconds. It should be cold enough that the outside of the glass frosts. Dilution is an ingredient.

The vermouth has been open since 2019

Vermouth is wine. It goes in the fridge and it dies in about a month. This one ruins more Manhattans than anything else.
